چکیده

-----------------------------------------------ABSTRACT---------------------------------------------------------GLAUCOMA is a group of diseases that can damage the eye’s optic nerve and result in vision loss and permanent blindness. Glaucoma is a disease characterized by elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). This increased IOP leads to damage of optic nerve axons at the back of the eye, with eventual deterioration of vision. CDR is a key indicator for the detection of glaucoma. The ratio of the size of the optic cup to the optic disc, also known as the cup-to-disc ratio (CDR), is one of the important clinical indicators of glaucoma, and is currently determined manually by trained ophthalmologists, limiting its potential in mass screening for early detection. In this paper, we propose a method to calculate the CDR automatically. Preprocessing methods such as anisotropic filtering have been performed. Automatic disc extraction is done using 3 techniques 1) Edge detection method, 2) Optimal thresholding method, and 3) Manual threshold analysis. Threshold levelset method is used for the detection of cup. The methods have been tested on the images in the publicly available DRIVE database.

Vertical cup-to-disc ratio measurement for diagnosis of glaucoma on fundus images [7624-121]

Glaucoma is a leading cause of permanent blindness. Retinal fundus image examination is useful for early detection of glaucoma. In order to evaluate the presence of glaucoma, the ophthalmologists determine the cup and disc areas and they diagnose glaucoma using a vertical cup-to-disc ratio. However, determination of the cup area is very difficult, thus we propose a method to measure the cup-to-...

Clustering Based Optic Disc and Optic Cup Segmentation for Glaucoma Detection

Glaucoma is a chronic eye disease that leads to vision loss. As it cannot be cured, detecting the disease in time is important. Current tests using Intra Ocular Pressure (IOP) are not sensitive enough for population based glaucoma screening. Optic nerve head assessment in retinal fundus images is both more promising and superior. The method to segment optic disc and optic cup using Simple Linea...

Glaucoma Detection from Color Fundus Images

Glaucoma is a pathological condition, progressive neurodegeneration of the optic nerve, which causes vision loss. The damage to the optic nerve occurs due to the increase in pressure within the eye. Glaucoma is evaluated by monitoring intra ocular pressure (IOP), visual field and the optic disc appearance (cup-to-disc ratio). Cup-to disc ratio (CDR) is normally a time invariant feature. Therefo...

Techniques of Glaucoma Detection From Color Fundus Images: A Review

Glaucoma is a generic name for a group of diseases which causes progressive optic neuropathy and vision loss due to degeneration of the optic nerves. Optic nerve cells act as transducer and convert light signal entered into the eye to electrical signal for visual processing in the brain. The main risk factors of glaucoma are elevated intraocular pressure exerted by aqueous humour, family histor...
